Terms & conditions of booking
In these terms and conditions the term “Centre” means UK RIB CENTRE, its
Instructors or any sub- contracted person. The term “the client” shall mean each
person in whose name the course is booked.
1. If the centre is unable to meet any booking through circumstances beyond its
control, i.e. weather, the client(s) may be offered another booking at the centres
discretion or an alternate booking offered with another company.
2. If the centre is unable to offer the client or the clients are unable to accept such
an alternative booking, the centre will refund any deposit or course fee paid. The
centres liability is limited to this.
3. The centre will decide how and when any course is run and whether or not the
course will go out onto the water; this could be because of the weather for example.
The centres decision is final.
4. Your place on a course, on an agreed date is secured when we receive a
completed booking form (per course participant) and deposit for £50 per participant or
full payment. Cheques made payable to: “UK Rib Centre”. You must provide
payment for the balance of the amount outstanding to arrive with us no later than 14
days before the commencement of your course.
5. In the event of your wishing to cancel your place on a course (after we have
received your deposit and booking form) the following terms apply:
a. Greater than four weeks notice; Deposit forfeited but no further charge
b. Between four and two weeks until your course; full cost of course due
unless places can be resold, in which case liability is limited to deposit
c. Less then two weeks notice; full cost of course due.
d. Where there has been an unforeseen medical condition that has forced a
cancellation then proof of this will enable a full refund.
In the event that you need to change the date of your course then we will do our
utmost to accommodate the change at no further cost. This is though dependent on the
notice given and thus our ability to resell your place – as per the terms above.
6. The school is insured, however, the client is strongly recommended to take out
their own personal insurance against cancellation, damage or loss of personal effects,
death or injury.
7. The centre and its employees accept no liability for theft, loss or damage for
clients clothing, equipment and personal property howsoever caused on or off the
centres craft.
8. The centre does not accept responsibility, unless it is proved in a court of law
to be negligent, for the death of, or injury to the client or loss or damage to the client’s
property.

9. The client acknowledges that there are inherent dangers involved in
sports/powerboating and understands and agrees to sign the booking form indemnity
holding the centre and its Instructors free of liability in the event of an accident, death,
injury or damage to person or property.
10. The centre does not accept any responsibility for damage to clients own craft
when they are used for tuition purposes. When the client is using their own craft for
the course they will ensure that it is comprehensively insured to cover the liability of
the client in respect of any act or default for which the client may become liable as a
result of the use of the craft and produce this on request to the centre.
11. When using clients own craft the client agrees that for the duration of the
course that he/she remains the skipper of the craft and has signed the
booking/declaration form to agree this.
12. A client who seeks own boat tuition will also be sent a separate document
detailing the equipment required on the boat. It is a condition of the booking that the
client’s boat satisfies the conditions detailed within the document.
13. Clients provided equipment such as lifejackets, are responsible for there safe
return at the end of each day. Damage to any item beyond normal wear and tear may
render the client liable to either pay for the item in full or to pay an amount to the
centre as compensation (as determined by the centre).
14. Individuals intending to obtain the International Certificate of Competence
(ICC) are advised that under current RYA rules this certificate (when issued by the
RYA) is only available to “British citizens or bone fide British residents” (Evidence
may be required).
15. The centre can teach students between the ages of 8 - 16 but this will only take
place with a parent or guardian being present throughout the course. At no time will
any member of staff be with an under 16.
16. If any instructional staff has any concerns over: alcohol, drugs or irresponsible
behaviour then the centre will not allow them onto the water.
